A hard-to-find licorice treat. These Pontefract cakes are chewy with a strong licorice taste. These are not the Haribo brand product but a stronger licorice still made in Pontefract England.

Treacle, glucose syrup, corn starch, invert sugar syrup, wheat flour (wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin), licorice extract, modified potato starch, vegetable oils (palm, sunflower, coconut), flavoring, glazing agent (carnauba wax).

The taste was very good

The taste was very good. They were a bit tough to chew, however.

Admittedly an "acquired taste," the original Pontefract Cakes will satisfy one's licorice cravings in a pinch -- far and away, much better than the Haribo product.
