More coming in June! A hard-to-find licorice treat. These Pontefract cakes are chewy with a strong licorice taste. These are not the Haribo brand product but a stronger licorice still made in Pontefract England.

Treacle, glucose syrup, corn starch, invert sugar syrup, wheat flour (wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin), licorice extract, modified potato starch, vegetable oils (palm, sunflower, coconut), flavoring, glazing agent (carnauba wax).

Not enough and too much ....The Pontefract cakes were not that sweet but clearly had a lot of licorice extract so, if you like the bittersweet flavor of pure Italian licorice extract, you will love this product (because the 'cakes' actually do taste like a soft version of 'Spezzatina' or 'Rombetti')! Otherwise, this product is probably not for you ....

Recommended strongly by a friend in England. She was spot on, I love the strong licorice flavor combined with a slight treacle flavor. This will be a constant resident of my candy jar.

These have complex, nuanced licorice flavor with a molasses sweetness. Always makes my day and studying a little better. :) Probably too intense/bitter for kids, but what a neat way to make history come alive
