Bianconeri by Amarelli

A tin of these licorice mints was in the minibar at the Bulgari hotel in Rome. They were complimentary or I would never have tried them as I didn't think of myself as a licorice fan. The more I've eaten them, the more I like them. My husband is now eating them too. I think they are the gateway drug of licorice as now I'll eat other licorice products too.

We love the Bianconeri licorice mints by Amarelli! I have enjoyed other licorice candies by Amarelli, but the Bianconeri with their strong, clean mint coating surrounding the slightly chewy licorice center have become our absolute favorite!

Intense, bitter, chewy Italian licorice flavor with a sweet, lightly minty candy coating, all in a lovely, adorable tin. I couldn't eat a ton of them but they're great to have on hand for an after-dinner digestive and breath mint. (Overall flavor reminds me a bit of the anise seed / candy combo you find at Indian restaurants.)

I agree with the store review: these are a great intro to Italian licorice. The sweet mint takes a bit of the edge off of the bitter Italian licorice flavor. These are delicious!
